A larger hand often means handling bulkier tools and putting more repetitive strain through the wrist during digging, raking, and gripping. The Advanced Protect Glove L9 gives that wrist the dedicated support it needs, in a size that doesn't compromise on fit to get there.
The palm: microfiber with a TPR grip texture
The palm is made from 98% microfiber with 2% TPR, pairing a soft, tactile base with small raised grip points across the contact area. TPR adds genuine friction without the bulk of a full rubber or latex coating, which matters on a larger glove where keeping weight and stiffness down makes a real difference to how usable the glove stays over a long session.
Comfort lining, not just a functional layer
Comfort lining is a specific, named feature of this range, and it's noticeable in the build. Rather than a bare synthetic interior, an added lining layer reduces the friction and rubbing that can build up during repetitive hand movements, particularly relevant on a larger glove where more surface area is in contact with the hand throughout a session.
The neoprene cuff and wrist guard
This is the defining feature of the range. The cuff is made from 100% neoprene, the same material used in wetsuits and sports supports, chosen for how firmly it hugs the wrist while still allowing full movement. A dedicated wrist guard is built into that cuff, giving real support to a part of the hand that takes significant, often overlooked strain during repetitive gardening tasks. For a larger hand handling bulkier tools, that wrist support matters just as much, if not more, than it does on a smaller glove.
The back: kept light so the glove stays wearable
The back of the hand uses a 98% polyester, 2% elastane blend, deliberately lighter than the reinforced palm and cuff. This keeps the glove breathable and flexible where heavy protection isn't needed, avoiding the stiffness that would come from building the whole glove to the same standard as the wrist guard.
Where the L9 earns its keep
This is the glove for repetitive, wrist-intensive work: digging, raking, hoeing, or any task involving sustained twisting or gripping. It's a sensible choice for anyone with larger hands who's previously experienced wrist fatigue or discomfort after a long day of garden work, since the wrist guard is specifically designed to address that strain rather than simply protect against cuts.
Getting the size right
The L9 measures roughly 25cm in height and 11cm in width, built for a larger hand than the M8. Because the neoprene cuff needs to sit snugly against the wrist to actually provide support, fit matters more here than with a looser glove design. If "large" in other structured or supportive glove ranges has previously felt tight or restrictive, the L9 is worth trying properly.
Looking after your gloves
The microfiber and TPR palm, along with the polyester and elastane back, are generally straightforward to keep clean with a gentle hand wash. The neoprene cuff, much like a wetsuit, benefits from being rinsed after use and allowed to air dry naturally rather than being wrung out or dried near direct heat, which can affect the material's flexibility over time.

Because larger hands doing the heavier digging and raking put even more strain through the wrist, and this is the pair that actually accounts for that. The L9 gives you genuine wrist support built into a comfortable, grippy glove, properly sized for a bigger hand.
