RHS Echinacea White Swan Seeds by Mr Fothergill’s produce elegant white coneflowers with prominent bronze orange centres. These dramatic and stylish blooms sit on tall sturdy stems, creating striking vertical interest in sunny borders and wildlife friendly gardens.

This hardy perennial grows to approximately 90cm in height with a spread of around 45cm. From June to September, large daisy style flowers rise above strong foliage, providing long lasting colour and structure through summer.

White Swan is recognised as Perfect for Pollinators, helping to attract bees and beneficial insects into the garden. The bold central cones are especially attractive to pollinating insects and add texture even as flowers mature. The seed range is produced by Mr Fothergill’s in partnership with the Royal Horticultural Society.

Echinacea thrives in full sun and well drained soil. Once established it is drought tolerant and low maintenance. Removing faded blooms will encourage further flowering, and seed heads can be left in place for autumn interest.

For indoor sowing, sow from February to July in trays of moist compost. Cover lightly with fine compost and keep at 15 to 20C. Seedlings appear in 14 to 28 days. When large enough to handle, transplant 5cm apart in trays. Gradually acclimatise outdoors before planting 30cm apart in flowering position.

For outdoor sowing, sow from May to July in a prepared seed bed. Sow thinly in rows 30cm apart. Cover lightly with fine soil and keep moist. Thin to 10cm apart before transplanting 30cm apart in autumn.

Plants flower from June to September in the following year from spring sowings.
