What's inside?
Starting from seed is one of the most satisfying things you can do in the garden. It is also the stage where most people run into problems, usually because they are missing one thing, using the wrong compost, or trying to keep moisture consistent without any real system. This bundle takes that guesswork away.
The Seed-to-Pot Starter Bundle brings together four products that work well independently and better together. You get the growing media, the vessels, the propagation environment, and the soil preparation tool, in one purchase, at a saving on the combined individual prices.
The compost
Mr. Fothergill's Peat Free Enriched Seed Compost arrives as a compact, dry block and expands to 10 litres when you add water. It is coir-based, made from coconut husk fibres that would otherwise be a by-product of the coconut industry, and enriched with slow-release nutrients and seaweed powder. It is formulated specifically for the early stages of plant growth: fine enough in texture for good seed-to-compost contact, balanced for moisture retention, and low enough in nutrients that it feeds steadily without overwhelming delicate roots. Add 3 litres of lukewarm water, wait five minutes, and it is ready to use. The bag it comes in is biodegradable, so it doubles as a watering vessel during prep.
The propagator
The Garland 12 Cell Self Watering Seed Success Kit takes the most common seedling killer, inconsistent watering, and removes it from the equation. Fill the reservoir at the base, and the capillary matting wicks moisture up into the 12 growing cells above. Roots draw what they need, when they need it, with no waterlogging and no need to check it every day. A full reservoir can last up to 10 days. The clear cover locks in warmth and humidity to encourage germination, and the reversible inner platform makes lifting seedlings out intact considerably easier come potting-on time. It fits neatly on a standard windowsill.
The pots
The 13cm coir pots are where seedlings go once they have outgrown the propagator cells. Made from natural coconut fibre, they are biodegradable and planted directly into the ground or a larger container, roots and all, with no disturbance to the root system. Coir pots encourage healthy root development by allowing air pruning at the pot wall, and they break down naturally in the soil over time. This pack contains 10 pots.
The sieve
Before any of the above goes into a pot or tray, the Garland 2-in-1 Soil Sieve earns its place. Two interchangeable galvanised wire mesh screens, a fine 6mm for seed sowing compost and a coarser 12mm for general soil preparation, clip in and out without tools. The 6mm screen is the one you will use most at the seed-sowing stage: it produces a light, even tilth with good airflow and moisture contact, which is exactly what small seeds need. The deep recycled polypropylene frame measures 35cm square and 12.5cm deep.

The question we hear most often from people starting out is some version of "what do I actually need?" Not what is available, not what exists, but what to actually buy to get seeds germinating and into pots without drama. This is the answer to that question.
Every product in this bundle does a specific job that matters at the seed sowing stage, and they work in a logical sequence: sieve the compost, fill the propagator, sow, water once and leave it, then pot on into coir pots when the time comes. There is no redundancy and no gaps. The fact that everything is peat-free, made from recycled materials, or biodegradable is not something we have retrofitted onto the brief; it is just how these products were made.
If you are starting from scratch this year, this is where we would begin.
