RHS Aquilegia Yellow Queen Seeds by Mr Fothergill’s produce elegant plants with long spurred soft yellow flowers. This hardy perennial is a later flowering columbine that brings height and brightness to sunny and partially shaded borders.
Yellow Queen reaches approximately 80cm in height with a spread of around 60cm. The graceful blooms sit above attractive foliage and create a light airy effect in the garden. Flowering from June to August in the year following sowing, it provides reliable early summer colour.
This variety thrives in full sun or partial shade. It prefers well drained soil and will establish into strong clumps over time. Once settled it is dependable and easy to maintain. Removing faded flower stems encourages plants to form fuller clumps.
Aquilegia Yellow Queen works beautifully in cottage garden planting. It blends well with blues, purples and soft whites. The long spurs add delicate detail and movement. It is also attractive to pollinators, supporting beneficial insects during its flowering period.
This variety has received the RHS Award of Garden Merit for consistent garden performance. It is part of the seed range produced by Mr Fothergill’s in partnership with the Royal Horticultural Society. Gardeners can expect dependable germination and strong results in UK conditions.
