RHS California Poppy Apricot Chiffon Seeds by Mr Fothergill’s produce an easy to grow, sun loving hardy annual with silky double blooms in warm apricot and orange shades. The flowers glow in sunshine and sit above attractive blue green, finely cut foliage.

Plants grow to approximately 20cm in height with a spread of around 15cm. The compact habit makes this variety ideal for border edges, gravel gardens and containers. It performs well in poor soils and thrives in full sun.

California Poppy Apricot Chiffon flowers from June to October. The large double blooms provide long lasting colour through summer and into early autumn. Making 2 to 3 sowings will extend the flowering season.

This variety has received the RHS Award of Garden Merit for reliable garden performance. It is part of the seed range produced by Mr Fothergill’s in partnership with the Royal Horticultural Society, giving gardeners confidence in strong results.

For outdoor sowing, sow from March to June in a prepared seed bed in flowering position. Sow thinly in rows 20cm apart. Cover with 0.5cm of fine soil. Firm gently and keep moist. Seedlings appear in 14 to 28 days. Thin seedlings to 15cm apart when large enough. Keep soil moist and weed free during establishment. Protect early sowings with cloches in cold weather.

This variety can also be sown directly into pots and tubs for easy seasonal colour. It is ideal for gardeners looking for low maintenance, drought tolerant flowers that bring warmth and brightness to sunny spaces.

RHS California Poppy Apricot Chiffon is a dependable hardy annual that delivers bold colour, fine foliage and strong performance in even challenging soils.

About Mr Fothergill's

Mr Fothergill's is a much loved British seed brand with a simple belief at its heart, gardening has the power to enrich everyday life and deepen our connection with nature. What began in 1978 in the converted stable block of Lillie Langtry’s former Newmarket home has grown into one of the most trusted names in seeds and plants, with a reputation built on quality, innovation and genuine care for gardeners.

From its home in Kentford, Newmarket, the company has evolved from a small family business into a modern seed specialist, with purpose built offices, a seed testing laboratory, packing and storage facilities, and extensive trial grounds and growing sites. Every season, seeds and plants are carefully selected, tested and packed so that gardeners in the UK and in more than 30 countries can sow with confidence.
