RHS Foxglove Suttons Apricot Seeds by Mr Fothergill’s produce tall, elegant spires filled with softly blended apricot pink blooms. This refined take on the traditional foxglove brings warmth and subtle colour to cottage gardens and semi shaded borders.

Botanically known as Digitalis purpurea, Suttons Apricot grows to an impressive height of approximately 180cm with a spread of around 30cm, creating strong vertical impact at the back of borders. The unusual apricot tones blend beautifully with creams, purples and soft greens, making it ideal for layered planting schemes.

This variety holds the RHS Award of Garden Merit for reliability and outstanding garden performance. It is also recognised as Perfect for Pollinators, providing nectar rich flowers that attract bees and beneficial insects throughout late spring and early summer. The seed range is produced by Mr Fothergill’s in partnership with the Royal Horticultural Society.

Foxglove Suttons Apricot thrives in partial shade but will also perform in full sun if soil remains moist and well drained. It is particularly effective planted in groups for a dramatic cottage garden display.

For indoor sowing, sow from April to July in trays of seed compost. Sow thinly and cover with a fine layer of compost. Firm gently and keep moist. Place in a cold frame or cool greenhouse. Seedlings appear in 21 to 35 days.

For outdoor sowing, sow from April to July in a prepared seed bed. Sow thinly and cover lightly with fine soil. Keep moist during germination.

When large enough to handle, thin seedlings to 10cm apart. Gradually acclimatise to outdoor conditions before transplanting 25cm apart in their final flowering position from September to October. Plants flower from May to July in the following year.

Allow some flowers to set seed if you wish to encourage natural self seeding in future seasons.

Caution: All parts of Digitalis purpurea are toxic if eaten. Keep away from children and pets.
