If you want a dependable tomato that performs in real UK summers, RHS Tomato Outdoor Girl Seeds by Mr Fothergills is a classic choice. Widely grown for reliable outdoor crops, Outdoor Girl produces small to medium sized tomatoes with a superb traditional flavour, perfect for summer salads, sandwiches and everyday kitchen use.

This is an indeterminate variety, meaning it continues to grow and crop over a long season when trained up canes or supports. Outdoor Girl is known for its weather tolerance and strong outdoor performance, making it ideal for gardeners who do not have a greenhouse but still want a steady supply of tasty homegrown tomatoes.

Sow indoors from March to April in pots or trays of seed compost and keep warm for good germination. Pot on seedlings as they grow, then harden off before planting out in late May once the risk of frost has passed. Choose a sunny sheltered spot and allow plenty of space for airflow. As plants develop, support with canes and pinch out side shoots regularly to keep growth tidy and productive. Once the first trusses have set, feed with a liquid tomato feed every 2 to 3 weeks and keep watering consistent to help prevent splitting and encourage even ripening.

Harvest typically runs from August to October, giving you plenty of time to enjoy fresh tomatoes straight from the plant. With regular picking and steady feeding, Outdoor Girl can be impressively productive outdoors, even when the weather is a little mixed.

Outdoor Girl holds the Royal Horticultural Society Award of Garden Merit, confirming its reliability and good performance in UK growing conditions. As part of the RHS seed range produced by Mr Fothergills in partnership with the RHS, it has been trialled for quality, yield and flavour so you can sow with confidence.
